Saturday morning our family pet, Lemondrop, passed away. He had been struggling with multiple illnesses over the last couple of years and we knew the time was coming near, we just didn't know when. I know that many of you won't understand my grief over losing a bird, it's easy to think of such a small animal being worth less than a dog or cat. I loved and still love Lemondrop just as much as I could love a dog or cat, he was full of life and had a mind of his own. He was so smart, stubborn, and the perfect addition to our family after our other family cockatiel, Sunbeam, flew away. He comforted me through that lost and during hard times over the last decade.

Lemondrop had a wonderful life full of love. In the end, there were many doctor visits and bills and my dad did everything he possibly could in order to help little Lemy. I only hope that he didn't suffer too badly before he finally passed away.

I love you Lemondrop and I know that I will see you again someday.
