Isn't this tote absolutely stunning? I seriously can't get over the beautiful colors and design. The lovely Deidre founder of Stilo502 recently contacted me about styling a product from her new online store. As I've mentioned previously on here, I'm all about supporting and spreading the word about small businesses.
Deidre discovered a passion for sewing and crafting while being a stay at home mom. She then started designing these gorgeous one of a kind totes out of Huipil. Not only does she design totes but she also makes bracelets, cuffs, necklaces, and beach bags. There's so much work that goes into each of her products.. this picture on her Instagram feed gives you an idea of how each design is beautifully created. I absolutely love that she embraces her Guatemalan heritage and is bringing a little bit of the Guatemalan culture to the USA by selling these products.
Being of Latino heritage myself, this particular paragraph stood out to me in her story:
"Stilo502 is dedicated to my grandmother Tulis who sold most of her belongings so that my mother could come to the states at the age of 15 to create a better life, my father who pushed all 3 of his children to receive college degrees while having formal education of a 1st grader, my family here and there, and to the beautiful Mayan people of Guatemala."
I especially love supporting businesses that give back! A portion of all sales goes towards Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos™ Guatemala which is an International is a Christian mission that strives to provide a permanent family and home for orphaned, abandoned and other at-risk children who live in conditions of extreme poverty.
