Hiking Mount Timpanogos

Finally checked something off of my bucket list that I have been wanting to do for awhile now, hike Mount Timpanogos. Originally we attempted to go midsummer but we started off on the wrong trail and lost so much time. After weeks of putting it off  and rescheduling we finally made it to the summit on Saturday afternoon.

We took the Aspen Grove Trail which was a lot harder than I had expected. I had no idea what kind of hike I had gotten myself into. Each hour that passed by I thought we must be close. The entire trip took us about 12 hours, 2 hours of which were spent taking breaks, eating, taking pics, and goofing around. 90% of the people that we met at the saddle came from the Timpooneke Trail, I think we will try that one next time since it sounded like it was less rocky and better well kept.

We ran into "that guy", Ben Woolsey while he was making his trip down from his morning hike. We had no idea who he was at the time but he was so friendly and encouraging. I asked him if we were close to the top and he replied with the biggest smile on his face, "Closer than you think." We still had about 3 hours to go and if you don't know who he is, this guy is AMAZING. He is 73 years old and has hiked Mount Timp over 700 times!

About 15 minutes before we reached Emerald Lake we saw 2 big animals moving across the mountain side. At first we thought they were polar bears because these animals were MASSIVE. I was terrified and didn't want to get any closer but the guys convinced me that we needed to. Anyway, turns out they were just a couple of adorable MASSIVE mountain goats (pics above).

Overall, this hike was beyond amazing! I wish I would have taken more photos along the way but aside from that no regrets (;
