December 2011 | Dearest Lou

Caricature and good news!

Hey guys,
As some of you might know I'm currently up in Washington with my dear husband spending time with his family over the holidays. We came up here shortly after our honeymoon in Las Vegas which was AMAZING. See this awesome caricature? We had it done at the Adventuredome and it turned out pretty awesome!

I honestly thought that I was going to fail some of my college courses. This semester I took on a full 18 credits, worked part time, and planned a wedding in between; life was pretty stressful! Well, out of curiosity I logged onto my UVLINK and lo and behold this is what appeared:

  2. I'm still graduating in April!

Beginning of our eternity

"An eternal marriage is eternal. Eternal implies continuing growth and improvement. It means that man and wife will honestly try to perfect themselves. It means that the marriage relationship is not to be frivolously discarded at the first sign of disagreement or when times get hard. It signifies that love will grow stronger with time and that it extends beyond the grave. It means that each partner will be blessed with the company of the other partner forever and that problems and differences might as well be resolved because they are not going to go away. Eternal signifies repentance, forgiveness, long-suffering, patience, hope, charity, love, and humility. All of these things are involved in anything that is eternal, and surely we must learn and practice them if we intend to claim an eternal marriage."
-F. Burton Howard

On December 20, 2011 Daryl and I knelt at a beautiful altar in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. Hearing the promises we made to one another brought sincere happiness, peace, and a deeper understanding of God and his plan for us. When the sealer pronounced us husband and wife, wedded for time and for all eternity, tears came streaming from my eyes. Words cannot describe the serenity I felt because of the promise that as I continue to live righteously I will be able to be with Daryl and our future children forever because of the sacred ordinance performed in the house of the Lord.

Better late than never

These are some of my favorite pictures from our engagement shoot. I posted a sneak peak back in October you can check those out HERE. For those of you looking for a photographer look no further Schell Photography will exceed your highest expectations! Jess (and her husband Kenny) were so easy to work with and our shoots (both engagements and wedding) were full of laughter and good times! Our pictures captured that very exciting time in our life and all of the shots are so non-generic and creative. We were so pleased with the results of our engagement photo session, and can't wait to see the results from our wedding day!

A shout out from the new Mr. and Mrs. Harvard

Gold hearts and combat boots

I love him so much<3
Hey guys,
Sorry I've been lacking on the posts lately, it's been extremely busy this week with finals and the wedding coming up! This time of the year is busy as it is but I've never experienced this level of busy (and believe me, I'm a VERY busy person) ever before! I can't believe I'm getting married in 9 days.. it has just barely hit me how fast this is coming up! I'll try and keep you all posted on wedding details ;P

Vintage floral vest, bright pants, and red lipstick

This is the first time I've done 2 blog posts in one day but I'm a little bit behind on posting outfit pictures and I don't really like blogging about past events days later. Kandice posted about our girl date yesterday (CLICK HERE!!) I HIGHLY suggest you check and follow her blog she's an amazing blogger.
Also, my lovely friend Jessica practiced doing some curls and different ideas on my hair in order to figure out what I wanted. We ended up figuring out the perfect up-do (Not pictured above), I'm super excited! I was thinking about wearing red lipstick or staining my lips a certain shade for my wedding. What do you guys think?

Striped dress, feather earrings, and stress relievers

Hi guys, this lovely little ensemble is something I put together for a double date I went on over the weekend.

The last two weeks of school are the most difficult.. I have NO motivation whatsoever. I'm so excited for my wedding and my grades are definitely showing it (aka not so hot). I've decided that I'm going to make the best out of my situation and I'm not going to stress. This is something I've always struggled with and I've come to realize  that I bring a lot of it upon myself. However, even when things go wrong the only thing I can control is how I choose to take it!

Here are a few tips to try out if you find yourself in the same boat:

1) Take deep breaths-Breathing exercises are simple and can be used anytime and anywhere!

2) Self meditation-Meditating brings short-term stress relief as well as lasting stress management benefits. Meditating helps you focus on relaxation and gives your body a break from worrying!

3) Laugh- Laughing releases tension and makes you happy! It's hard to be stressed or negative when something is making you laugh. Taking a short break from a task and going on a site like reddit for a couple of minutes is highly suggested if you aren't surrounded by funny people :P

4) Eat a well balanced diet/exercise-A healthy diet and regular exercise can bring greater physical and emotional wellness. When you are poor and in college like myself, it's difficult to make time for cooking and exercise. Prepare simple healthy meals and snacks in advance so you don't find yourself going through the "drive-thru" 3 times a day! Take the stairs instead of the elevator to the 4th floor of the library. You will slowly see and feel a difference!

5) Don't procrastinate- This is the one that causes me the most stress! Putting off a stressful school project can WILL increase the stress you experience (For those of you who don't believe me I can PROVE this to you.. story of my life). Prioritize what is important and if there's spare time do other things you enjoy, without the added stress of rushing for a deadline.

6) Time management- Managing time can allow you to minimize the stressors that you experience, and better manage the ones you can't avoid. When you are able to complete everything on your "to do" list without the stress of rushing or forgetting, your whole life feels easier.

For those of you in school, how are your finals coming along?

Purple suit and tribal tights

Planning a wedding is a ton of work. We're near the end now and I still feel that there's a lot to do! One thing that I've been particularly looking for is the perfect dress for the wedding brunch. I need suggestions on stores! I'm looking for a dress similar to this, this, or this . . however, I need something modest (capped sleeves, at least knee length, no low cut back, etc.) and would like to spend no more than $100. I've found several dresses that are modest enough but don't have the "wow" factor I'm looking for. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can browse?

Also a few of my bridesmaids are struggling to find a top and jacket to go with their gold and cream pencil skirt. If you know of any stores that have something that may work links and comments are very much appreciated! (:

14 days to go. .

Belated birthday post for my dearest Dish

Dearest Kandice Tolman (Dish, Dishy, Dearest friend, Kandish, Tolman child, K-dog, etc.etc.),
Yesterday was your 20th birthday, I hope it was everything you wanted and more. I have a card for you and that's where I have written some sweet (& more personal) things for you but I wanted to do a little something for you blog edition. This collage didn't turn out as awesome as I envisioned it, but I hope it reminds you of all of the great UNFORGETTABLE times we've had over the years. Can you believe we've been best friends for a little over 7 years now? (I know we had some rough patches here and there but let's just forget about those alright ;P) From the time we were 13 until now a lot has changed.. and things will continue to change but we will always be close as any two friends can get. I know Heavenly Father put you in my life for a reason and I couldn't have gone through all of the good and bad things that have happened throughout the years without you <3

In honor of your birthday I chose 20/365 little memories that I wrote for you back in December 2007. I hope these make you laugh as much as they made me and remind you of the friendship we had HAVE:
